I Had A Hunch It Was Stronger Than It Looks!!

If it wasn't, then I'm sure Transport Canada would have never approved The Smart Car to sell in Canada. It goes to show that it'a not the size but the quality of the design that makes something stronger.

Go Big, Or Go Home!!

Well, as I write this, there is just one day, and 4 matches left to determine the final 16 of The World Cup 2006. Portugal and Brazil have guaranteed their spots, but alas, Croatia is going home after one hell of a match against Australia. It was probably the most nail biting match yet. And the cards just flew in this one!!!! Both teams were playing pretty hard so the number of yellows were expected, and both sides were reduced to just 10 due to red cards. But the frustration eventually got the better of the Croats. One of them even got in the referee's face and pulled at him. He got an instant yellow for that, which he should be thankful because that probably should have been a red!! So the Aussies advance with a tie against Croatia and Brazil solidify their first place position in the group with a 4-1 beating of Japan. It's gonna be a fun weekend!! Forca Portugal!!!!! Viva Brasil!!!

World Cup Musings, Caledonia Standoff

Well, so far aside from Germany, most of the top teams have been less than impressive. Portugal's win was a struggle and they know it. I was very impressed with Croatia and how they held Brazil back. Brazil had to sweat for that 1-0 final. The Croatians have nothing to be ashamed about that result, bravo!!
Hopefully Portugal will play better this Saturday. At least they need to make it out of the group!

Now to the native standoff. After last Friday's incidents the natives are losing any credibility real fast. If they expect us to respect their "Great Law", they should respect Canadian law. They would do well to hand over those suspects to the OPP if they want to gain some respect and credibility in their land claim. And the less said about the OPP, the better, after what transpired last Friday. My heart goes out to Caledonians.

The Beautiful Game!!!!

So it begins today, the one tournament even non-sports fans (such as myself) wait for every 4 years...and it ain't the Olympics!! It's World Cup Time!!! I've said it before and I'll say it again. Nothing looks better on a TV than a Futebol match! Myself being of Portuguese blood, I will be supporting Portugal. And yes if Portugal is knocked out, I will throw my support to Brazil, and I will not make any apologies for it, so quit your whining!! But let me state for the record, that since I am Canadian born and raised, if Canada were in the tournament, I would support them ahead of Portugal. I fully realize I would be in the minority among other first and second generation Canadians who would still support their "heritage" team over their own nation.

Here's the fun part. My wife is of Croatian background, so it will be fun!! Their group includes Brazil, and their first game is against Brazil. I've already gave her my condolences!!! You gotta believe the Croatian coaching staff are having the team try to play for the 0-0 tie just to survive, and I can't blame them!!

Anyway, whatever team you are supporting, here's hoping everyone enjoys the games and see ya on James St. when ever SOMEBODY wins!!1 GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Pretty Crappy Week

Well, we finally have out first good heat wave...and I come down with a FLU!!! I had to stay home Tuesday because I had a hell of a fever. Sweating profusely in an air conditioned house. If I had gone in, I probably would have collapsed from heat stroke, between the fever and the heat and humidity. Then it turns into a throat infection in which I lose my voice(insert your punchline here). I didn't do a full 8 hour day until Friday. I'm on anti-biotics so this should clear up soon. Overall, not a good week for me and mine. Hopefully things will get better in the short term.

The one bright note. We have finally paid our last wedding expense(pictures were finally ready). Only took 8 months!!
